Half Way

Last Friday, I got my 20 week sonogram done, which means that I'm already half way done with this pregnancy! And of course, we couldn't wait to find out the gender, so drum roll please... It's going to be a girl! My son was hoping for a little brother, so he was slightly disappointed, but he says he'll be nice to his little sister and will be a good helper.

We actually got quite a good look at the baby since we had a student sonographer sitting in, and they were very thorough. Even a non-professional like me was starting to be able to see what all the fuzzy things represented! Of course, what's important is that the baby is healthy, and she seemed just fine, at least anatomically.

Now we're going to have to come up with a good name! Being a Japanese-Chinese-American family, it's not exactly an easy task. We try to find a name that can be written in Chinese characters but is easy to pronounce and remember in English as well. I think the Chinese also has a custom of using the same first letter for all siblings. With my son, we didn't really agree on one until almost the last minute!

Sneak Peek: New Project

A little while ago, I mentioned that I was sorting through lots of beads and getting ready to work on a new line of products. Well, I got side tracked after that, but I'm back at it again and have a photo to show you. I wonder if you can tell what it is!

I don't want to reveal exactly what it is yet, but I'm tentatively calling this new line "Jewelry for Your Home". I haven't seen anything like it before personally, so I don't even know if there is a proper name for them.

Anyway, I'm working on more colors and more different styles, so stay tuned!

Sorting...Sorting...Sorting...

If you've noticed that I haven't been posting much on this blog, or over at Etsy for that matter, you are right. I've been busy sorting.

I got a giant box full of new beads for a brand new line of items that I've been planning to make. They are actually acrylic beads, and they all came strung in an assortment of colors. Well, I don't know about you, but I HAVE to have them all sorted by color before I can start working on anything new.

So, I've been sorting through thousands, if not tens of thousands of beads! I can see the end of the tunnel now, and I'm excited that I'll soon get to actually create something with these! I'll keep you updated on the progress, so stay tuned!

Sneak Peek - Eruopean 4-in-1

I've been working on a new bracelet design based on the European 4-in-1 chain. It's a pretty straight forward 4-in-1, but with just enough beads to make it a little more feminine and still won't interfere with how the links overlap. I think it's much prettier in person than how it appears in the phots. I'll have to work on taking better pictures!

I've been doing the "wearability test" for a day now, and it seems pretty strong. I also like how it lays on your arm. It's very flexible and slinky! So please keep an eye out for it at my etsy store! I will probably be making some to list there soon!

Milky Way Bracelet for Tanabata

Have you ever heard of a Japanese festival celebrated on July 7th called Tanabata? According to the legends, (although there are several versions) it's a a day in which Orihime (the star Vega) is allowed to see her lover, Kengyu (Altair) just once a year over the Milky Way.

I love it because it's the most romantic and beautiful festival in Japan. We usually celebrate by decorating bamboo trees with colorful paper ornaments, and hang strips of paper with our wishes and prayers written on them. And then we hope for clear skies in the evening because otherwise, they would have to wait another year to see eachother!

When I thought about the story, this bracelet popped into my head, so I worked like crazy and finished it just in time for Tanabata! You can see the listing at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27499226.

Sneak Peek - Asymmetrical Lariat Necklace

I've got a sneak peek of a new item for my etsy store!

I wonder if it's the influence of my Gemini dual personality, but I like things that are more than what it seems. This powder blue necklace that I just finished yesterday is no different! It has this cool (but surprisingly simple) feature that allows you to wear it as a lariat-style necklace or a couple of different asymmetrical necklaces.

I can't wait for good weather so I can take pictures of it and post it on etsy! Hopefully, I can get it done this afternoon. We'll see!
